When the World Feels Heavy, Walk in Light

When the world feels heavy,
sometimes the most powerful thing we can do
is choose light.

There are moments when you open your phone, turn on the news, or simply look around…
and your heart feels heavy.

Heavy with confusion.
Heavy with sadness.
Heavy with the feeling that what is happening in our world right now is just not normal.

I’ve been feeling that deeply.
So deeply that it actually made me physically sick.

My heart has been broken by what I’m seeing.
By the division.
By the cruelty.
By the weight of it all.

And I had to stop and realize something important:

Getting sick over things that are completely out of my control is not helping anyone — including me.

We have to guard our hearts.
We have to protect our peace.
We have to take care of our well-being.

Because stress doesn’t just live in our minds —
it creates oxidative stress in our bodies.

And oxidative stress creates havoc in our cells,
our immune systems,
our sleep,
our hormones,
and our overall health.

And here I am — someone who has spent years teaching the importance of taking care of ourselves — realizing I had allowed myself to be swept away by fear, emotion, and overload.

So now I am choosing stillness.
I am choosing softness.
I am choosing to step away from what hurts my spirit.

So now I am choosing stillness.
I am choosing softness.
I am choosing to step away from what hurts my spirit.

For me, that looks like:

  • avoiding the news

  • avoiding mean-spirited conversations

  • choosing shows, music, and movies that uplift

  • returning to my breath, my body, and my peace

And then I saw something that reminded my heart how to breathe again…

A group of Buddhist monks are walking — on foot — 2,300 miles across America
for peace, compassion, prayer, and freedom.

No noise.
No anger.
No division.

Just prayer in motion.
Just love, step by step.

Their journey touched my heart so deeply that I wanted to share it with you.

This image reminded me that humanity is still here.
Kindness is still alive.
Light is still walking among us.

So if you have been feeling like me —
heavy, overwhelmed, heartbroken, or on the edge of making yourself sick —
please hear me:

Guard your heart.
Protect your peace.
Choose what nourishes your nervous system and your soul.

Sometimes healing is not doing more…
It’s doing less.

Less noise.
Less fear.
More breath.
More stillness.
More beauty.
More light.

And this… this is how I’m choosing peace today.

Wrapped up, breathing slow, holding my lovebug Coco —
reminding my nervous system that safety, love, and stillness are still right here.

Animals have such a beautiful way of bringing us back into our bodies and into the present moment.
Their calm, their love, their quiet presence heals in ways we don’t always realize.

Sometimes peace doesn’t look like changing the whole world.
Sometimes it looks like slowing down, breathing, and letting love hold you.

My wish for you is what these beautiful monks are walking for —
peace, compassion, presence, and freedom.

Because the world doesn’t need more panic.
It needs more peace.
